ACTIVITY 1 - Intro & Our Changing World

Activity Objectives
Your learning journey is all about activities...that after all is the core of the @CTIVATED pedagogy, as you will discover. So let's start with some fun activities to get you going. Remember, the learning is in the activities...so the more you participate the more you will learn. In this activity we will look at how our world is changing and the impact this has on how we should be seeing teaching.

Take a look at these two images. What does this tell you about our modern age?

Now take a look at this...a snapsnot of what's happening on the Internet in Real-Time. What does this tell you?

Click the animation to open the full version (via penny stocks).
Finally watch this famous TED Talk by Sir Ken Robinson (if you haven't already seen it).  Think about what he is saying we need to do in terms of the revolution in our teaching.
Activities:
  1. Go out into the world wide wild web (this is activity time so you can't stay warmly ensconced here) and find out any interesting fact you can about how our world has changed. It can be some mind-blowing stat about social media usage or some fascinating snippet about how our world is so different to yesteryear. To make life easy I've included a Google search bar below - the results will open in a new tab.
  2. What would you say is the main difference between our modern world and the world we lived in BC (Before Computers)?
  3. What in your opinion is the main problem we are experiencing in our classrooms?
