Educators’ Emergency VAX Treatment (Dr. Craig Blewett)
For many years I have shared with schools/universities how important it is that we transition to more effective digital-age teaching using appropriate pedagogies. Many schools are now using the Activated Classroom Teaching (ACT) approach and seeing amazing results in learning, engagement, and the development of 21st century skills. However, in the current COVID-19 crisis we are all being forced to urgently transition to online teaching. To help you I have developed an emergency Virtual Activated eXperience (VAX) treatment.
Firstly, let me briefly say something important before we get going with VAX. Regardless of whether we are quickly trying to solve a problem or not, as teachers our calling is to teach and develop students through engaging teaching. So while we race to address critical current needs around efficiently getting content to our students, the more important and enduring need is how to engage and teach effectively with technology. Investing in that will not only help us address our current issue, but set us up to be teachers and schools that are ready for the future of teaching. Let's take this opportunity to turn a crisis into an opportunity to launch us into new, engaging, and innovative ways of teaching and learning.
