Principle 4 - Old - Vulnerability & Validation - Making oneself #vulnerable is key to the learning process, as it is only in #vulnerability that there is the opportunity for learning through validation. Traditional learning environments such as classrooms and lecture theatres decrease opportunities for vulnerability. Research shows that students in Grade 1 only ask on average 3 questions a day. Traditional teaching environments do not encourage question asking resulting in increased levels of passivity.

Principle 4 New - Vulnerability & Validation - Key to online environments is the separation spatially, emotionally and temporally of the participants. This space encourages students to make themselves more #vulnerable through question asking, comments, and contributions. It is in this vulnerability that teachers, and other students, can guide and direct learning.
